A two day in-depth exploration of what makes a PMO succeed
Have you ever wondered why the PMO track record has not been better? Do executives use the PMO strategically? Does management need the PMO? Do agile practitioners even want the PMO? Are you wondering if the value of the PMO will ever be recognised? Do you get the feeling that the PMO is becoming increasingly less relevant?
In short, have you ever wondered if your PMO matters or questioned how it could be made more helpful to the organisation?
If so then this two day, highly interactive Masterclass – Making Your PMO Succeed – featuring thought provoking exercises and case examples that reveal the purpose and value of the PMO is for you.
The Masterclass will have strictly limited numbers to ensure all attendees can participate and interact effectively, get their needs addressed, and have access to three world leading experts in PMOs.
Mark Price Perry, Andy Jordan and Jesse Fewell are here in the UK following their highly successful Masterclasses in major American cities throughout 2016. PMO Flashmob brings them to the UK so you can experience the Masterclass too. Make sure you book your place early to avoid disappointment, it’s a great professional development opportunity.
The Masterclass \\ Making Your PMO Succeed
Be a Business Driver, not a PMO Passenger
SESSION 1: Ready-To-Apply Examples of Business Driven PMO Success
Business Driven PMO Setup and Management with Mark Price Perry
There is no surer way to invite PMO difficulties than to rush into a well-intended PMO model, “people, process, tools” strategy and efforts to obtain executive buy-in such as “selling the PMO” and promoting quick wins – an approach still advocated by many today.
This session engages and challenges participants in a highly interactive, case example driven exercise that reveals and then corrects common misguided PMO strategies and mistakes in execution that most PMOs make.
Mark will also present a bouquet of highly effective PMO setup and management techniques based upon his three books in the Business Driven PMO series that can be immediately applied to ensure PMO success.
PMO and PPM, the Foundation for Strategic Success
SESSION 2: Integrated delivery, focused delivery, sustainable benefits
Optimising portfolio delivery with Andy Jordan
Delivering effective portfolio success takes integration of all functions and all levels, and it requires a PMO that understands how to get the most out of business departments and project teams.
In this session Andy will provide you with the foundational elements of portfolio delivery success, show you how to build an effective management structure based on those elements, and how to deliver a single, seamless approach from idea generation through benefit realisation.
The Agile PMO
SESSION 3: Practical advice for a successful Agile integrated PMO.
Agile and the PMO with Jesse Fewell
Now that Agile methods are here to stay, executives are looking to PMO leaders for answers to fundamental questions: What is the Agile movement all about? When does it fit for a given project, and when does it not?
Even more puzzling, if Agile methods encourage self-organizing teams, then how does that impact the role of a PMO, or even the role of the project manager itself?
In this eye-opening session, we will sift out fact from fiction and walk away with actionable tips for incorporating Agile methods into your PMO strategy.
Redefining the PMO: Issues, Opportunities, and Breakthrough Thinking
SESSION 4: Open Space Meeting
Open Space Meetings are an amazingly powerful way to explore issues, discuss ideas, and achieve breakthrough thinking.
Open Space Meetings are particularly useful for fully engaging all those who are truly passionate about and committed to a subject and, arguably, there is no greater shared bond that PMO practitioners have than their collective passion and commitment to the value proposition of a well-conceived, established, and run PMO.
This workshop session utilizes the Open Space Meeting approach to tackle the top PMO-related issues, opportunities, and topics of the workshop attendees.
