London | PMO Mini-Masterclass | Facilitating Learning Not Lessons – 29th September

The next Mini-Masterclass in Central London takes place on Thursday 29th September from 6pm.

We are pleased to host it at a great space in London, 7 Heddon Street, London W1B 4BD – or better known as 8works Acceleration Center.

It’s a great space that should get your creative juices flowing, and you’ll need it for this evening’s session as we look at the role of the PMO in the lessons learnt process.

With a combination of presentation and interactive sessions – we’ll focus on the role of the PMO in collecting lessons learnt – facilitation – and the role the PMO should play in taking action to ensure lessons really are learnt.

This session goes beyond the mere act of collecting lessons and sticking them in a database – this is about the proactive role that the PMO can take in ensuring learning takes place in the project organisation. We often talk about the PMO ‘adding value’ to the organisation – providing a great service here will do just that.

The evening session includes:

  1. Understanding what lessons learnt are and why they are important
  2. Interactive sessions on facilitating and collection skills
  3. Understanding why we don’t learn from lessons
  4. Interactive session on what PMO can do with lessons recorded to turn them into lessons learnt
  5. Further practical advice on what the PMO can do within the lessons learnt service area.

In preparation for the evening, delegates should take a look at a recent article here on the PMO Flashmob website about lessons learnt. You should also take part in the recent survey study too.

The session starts at 6pm, finishing at 8pm. Costs £36.

  1. Another great PMOflashmob event. This session opened my eyes to alternative ways onrunning Lessons Learnt sessions and how they can be facilitated. Also looking at Lessons Learnt through the eyes of different Corporates was interesting.

    • Thanks Simon, glad you enjoyed it. It was a tough subject for us to plan because the whole lessons learnt area needs something different to get people engaged. Lessons for us tonight is certainly looking more into facilitation, and different approaches (I loved the second session tonight, I want to see more of those kinds of things). Second area of interest for me is how people actually go on and really learn. Lots of food for thought, lots of future sessions to think about 🙂
