Should your PMO be dabbling in portfolios? Is it mainstream for you, off-limits or future direction?
Our next PMO Flashmob Scotland takes place in Glasgow and we will be looking at what the PMO role could or should be in portfolio management.
For many organisations the PMO’s position is one of coordinator and aggregator of project reporting. Somewhere in the logical extension of those duties is the potential to either administer the ‘slate of active initiatives’ or even facilitate and direct from appraisal to realisation.
Simon Harris will lead the session, taking us through defining Portfolios and their placement in the organisations governance and controls; what a PMO can be doing to support portfolios or the pitch you could be making to expand responsibilities (or defend against unwanted challenges beyond current resourcing!) plus throughout and after the event is the opportunity to network with likeminded
The evening will be hosted by QA and will be held at:
17 Renfield Street,
Glasgow, G2 5AH
The evening starts from 6pm, with the main session starting at 6.30pm. We’ll be finishing up around 8pm and then heading to a local bar to carry on the conversation.
The session costs just £10.00 to attend.
Simon Harris is a project management veteran with 30 plus years experience of projects gained mostly within large-scale blue-chip environments across finance and banking IT, defence engineering, oil & gas, government and not for profit. Simon has set-up and run PMO for several programmes and organisations.
Simon’s passion is to improve the state-of-the-art in organisation’s ability to cope with change. His thinking rests on the observation that organisations have to balance Run the Organisation with Change the Organisation. Project management is necessary but insufficient. Organisations need a broader and deeper response to change whether discretionary, gradual, irresistible or sudden. Find out more about Simon
