Goal Setting for PMO Teams | Thursday 25th March

We often get asked about metrics and measures for the PMO. You might already be aware of the Inside PMO Report we have which is focused on this subject. There’s a difference between the metrics and measures that the PMO contributes to – such as project success rates and the ones which focus on how well the PMO services are received by the organisation. The Art of the Possible – Making the Difference When it Matters the Most: Virgin Atlantic ePMO

I think we can all appreciate just how the aviation and travel industry was impacted in 2020 and still is today (at the time of writing in February 2021) Good news stories were hard to come by and we weren’t expecting to hear one which specifically put the PMO at the centre. PMO Flashmob Becomes Part of House of PMO

How many PMO professionals are there in the world? PMI reckons there are 16.5 million project managers in the world – not counting programme managers or portfolio managers. If we were so bold to say there is one PMO professional for every Project Manager (they should be so lucky!) that gives us some idea. Even if we’re being very conservative, say 10% of that, 1.65 million PMO professionals. That’s over a million people working today in PMO, in a profession that doesn’t exist in its own right. Sure, we’re part of the bigger picture of project management but I think ...

Working Through PMO Behaviours

To be competent in our PMO roles we need knowledge, experience and skills. The fourth component – often overlooked – is behaviour. Behaviour is “observable activity of how one acts or conducts oneself, especially towards others.” In other words, we can see different types of behaviour in others and they can see it in us. An example in PMO might be: Taking ownership of tasks and complete promptly, keeping the customer up to date of progress and task completion. We can see that the PMO Analyst is taking ownership because they’re carrying out the work and completing it – and ...

Everything You Need to Know – PMO Competency Framework

After three years, the PMO Competency Framework has been launched by PMO Flashmob and the House of PMO. The PMO Competency Framework really is a PMO community project – created by PMO practitioners for PMO practitioners. For many years, PMO practitioners have been the poorer relatives to others in the PPM community who have had for many years now, a competency framework and assessment which enables them to understand their strengths and discover their skills gaps. The PMO Competency Framework is a career tool that not only allows you to assess yourself against existing PMO role profiles, it is also ...
