We’ve just had a little look at an early insight from the Project Management Census which is still running and still needs your input. If you like what we’re trying to do with PMO Flashmob, help us to provide some PMO insights early next year by taking part – we can’t do it without you!
So one of the questions that has intrigued me for a long time – and something which I’ve heard a lot through conversations with PMO practitioners – is understanding what route they took to get to where they are now as a PMO Manager.
I must admit I was expecting to see a bigger number from programme and project support (just under a third) but you can see that actually a lot of PMO Managers come from a Project Manager background.
When this question was asked, respondents were able to pick up to three different roles because of course a PMO Manager might have been both a Programme Manager and a Project Manager before.
Does this resonate with your experiences?
Does this make you think differently about your career in PMO in anyway?
One of the things we can look forward to – when further PMO people take part in the Census – is being able to see things like, does the route taken have an impact on salary levels, or the type of PMO managed, even the maturity level of that PMO. Fascinating stuff I think you’ll agree.
Thank you for your support this year and hope to see you at an event in 2016. Have a great holiday!
