N/A: Project Management in Practice
February 14th, 2017 - Slovenia, Ljubljana, Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel
This year, the 8th Project management in practice conference focuses on the business performance of projects which is mostly shown through the synergies between realized project objectives on the one hand, and the corporate strategy (working on the right projects), realized business effects (business value of the projects) and business benefits (benefit realization) on the other hand. Benefit realization was also the headline of the (USA-based) PMO Symposium this year.
6:00 pm: Birmingham PMO Mini-Masterclass – 15th February
‘Maturity’ seems to have been one of those words we’ve frequently heard talked about in PMO circles this year – along with value, evolution and agile. So we thought we should take a closer look at it and at the same time come back to Birmingham for our first PMO Mini-Masterclass.
The evening will focus on a key role of the PMO – improving programme and project delivery capability of the organisation – whether that be at programme, department, division or corporate level. The Masterclass will walk through a range of models, tools and techniques that can help us identify what needs to be done; approaches on how it can be done and what needs to be in place to make it happen.
The session will include a presentation plus a number of interactive sessions with the emphasis on helping you develop practical steps you can take back to use in your organisation.
The evening kicks off at 6pm with the main session starting at 6.30pm. The session will finish at 8pm – and in true PMO Flashmob style we’ll head to the nearest pub to carry on the conversation.
6:00 pm: Portfolio Management Glasgow
Should your PMO be dabbling in portfolios? Is it mainstream for you, off-limits or future direction?
Our next PMO Flashmob Scotland takes place in Glasgow and we will be looking at what the PMO role could or should be in portfolio management.
For many organisations the PMO’s position is one of coordinator and aggregator of project reporting. Somewhere in the logical extension of those duties is the potential to either administer the ‘slate of active initiatives’ or even facilitate and direct from appraisal to realisation.
Simon Harris will lead the session, taking us through defining Portfolios and their placement in the organisations governance and controls; what a PMO can be doing to support portfolios or the pitch you could be making to expand responsibilities (or defend against unwanted challenges beyond current resourcing!) plus throughout and after the event is the opportunity to network with likeminded
6:00 pm: PMO Social Meetup - London
First social PMO Flashmob of the year and we're heading towards to the Strand this time. We're back to a pub, real ales, wooden floorboards, the sound of sheep - well the pub is called the Savoy Tup and apparently that's got something to do with sheep.
You can find the Savoy Tup at:
2 Savoy Street
So what will be happening?
It's a social night so we'll get you talking to your peers about PMO - as usual we always have something up our sleeves to help you network with others - something that makes everyone comfortable at a PMO Flashmob. So if you've not given us a try before - come along and see for yourself how welcoming the group can be.
N/A: PMO Value Ring Workshop
Design your PMO based on the experience of a worldwide community of PMO professionals
Professionals who lead or implement PMOs are well aware of the ongoing challenge of making the value of the PMO recognised by their stakeholders. And if this is no easy task, it becomes even more complicated when we realise that many of the available references on the subject are incomplete, overly theoretical, or outdated.
Following the very successful APM PMO Specific Interest Group (SIG) " PMO and Value" conference held in October 2016, we are happy to announce that we are giving you an opportunity to spend time with one of the founders of the innovative PMO Value Ring methodology.
This intimate workshop with Americo Pinto will ensure that delegates will learn, in practice, how to use the methodology, a step-by-step way to create, restructure and manage PMOs with a focus on value and results.
Developed from recent international research involving dozens of PMO leaders with extensive experience, the PMO Value Ring methodology is now used by more than 4,000 professionals in 65 countries around the world.
After completing this workshop, you will be able to introduce the methodology in your company or client, convince your sponsors of its importance, apply best practices, use the tools available for implementation, and analyse the results obtained.
During this workshop you will:
