PMO Learnings from the States

PMOSymposiumBy the time you read this I’ll be sat in the desert listening to some folks talking about PMOs. I’ve flown out to Phoenix, Arizona for the PMO Symposium, and today, Monday, I have about four sessions set up that I want to listen to.

I’m here to see what’s happening in the wider PMO world. The aim is to bring back some new knowledge that we can utilise here in the UK with PMO Flashmob. So I’m sat in the desert representing PMO Flashmob, telling people here about what we’re doing with PMO Flashmob, getting their thoughts about it and hopefully bringing back an idea or two with me. I’ll make sure I take some good notes so I can share some of the sessions with you on the PMO Flashmob website over the coming weeks. I’m hoping to make a few little videos so you can get a feel of the place too.

If you want to know how it’s going right now, you can through Twitter. The hashtag for the event is #PMOSym

pmchatChat about the learnings

The other thing you can do, if you’re on Twitter, is take part in the weekly #pmchat that takes place every Friday. On Friday 13th, PMO Flashmob will be hosting the #pmchat hour and it will all be about some of the things that have come out of the PMO Symposium.

What is #pmchat?

#pmchat is a hosted, one hour session on Twitter where project people from around the world come together to share their insights, thoughts, smart links to stuff and other chitchat. It starts at 5pm UK time.

Each week there is a different theme.

The host for the hour session for that week posts up a question and includes #pmchat on the tweet.

Project people from around the world then respond with their thoughts and answers, also including #pmchat on the tweet.

The questions keep coming, and people keep contributing.

It’s a great way to learn something new and of course connect to other people too.

If you’re on Twitter yourself, you can just dive in and contribute.

If you’re not on Twitter, you can click on the #pmchat and read it. It’s better to read from the bottom up. I’ll bet you’ll be itching to join in so why not set up an account beforehand?

Friday 13th is PMO Flashmob on #pmchat

At 5pm on Friday 13th November, PMO Flashmob is going to host #pmchat for the first time and it would be great if we have a strong PMO contingent.

Stick the date and time in your diary and try it out.

It’s a bit different and it’s really what Twitter should be all about.

Now might be the time to try it out?

  1. Lindsay,

Great to hear your encouraging news and look forward to your feedback from the desert.

Remember: – Show me your change portfolio and I will tell you your strategy, the actual, not the espoused.

Sadly will miss welcoming you back at our event on 26th November.

    David Shannon
